Hogan, representing the Mercantile Association, a group of High Street merchants, had circulated a petition among the business owners, requesting the higher fines and greater enforcement of parking laws on High Street. ![]() That's why we asked you (the Traffic Committee) for your recommendation about what the increase should be."Ĭlinton's John Hogan, owner of Hogan Real Estate on High Street, commented, "It's been like three decades, or five," since the current fines were put into effect. The higher fines will not take effect unless and until the selectmen vote to raise them, but Traffic Committee Member Steven Mendoza, also chairman of the Board of Selectmen, said at the meeting, "We already want to raise the fines. 15 and April 1, impeding snow removal, and parking upon a sidewalk or crosswalk. The highest fines cover all-night parking between Nov. The middle category of fines covers such violations as parking within an intersection, with the right wheel more than one foot from the curb, within 10 feet of a hydrant, and other unsafe locations. Two other categories of parking violations will go up from $10 and $15 fines to $20 and $25 fines. This means that "overtime parking," or taking up a High Street parking space for longer than two hours, will now be punishable by a $15 fine, rather than a $5 fine. Merchants on High Street could soon be getting some relief from their headaches about the misuse of customer parking spaces outside their stores.
